Port Welshpool & District Maritime Museum
Preserving and Promoting the Port Welshpool Region
Welcome to the
Port Welshpool & District Maritime Museum website
The Port Welshpool & District Maritime Museum is run by a volunteer committee delegated by the Shire of South Gippsland Council.

It aims to preserve and promote the rich history of the Port Welshpool region.

The building that houses the smaller artifacts of the collection was designed and built by John Avery in 1881 for W.B.M. Smith.

Being the first large home in the village, it became the unofficial community centre; conducting dances, weddings, church services and even a wine salon.
